I just saw another thread about how to reach 8000 rpm with the tC.
My question is similar but different.
Does someone know which rpm the tC is at when it reaches its electronically limited top speed of 127 mph?
I'm talking about the 5 gear standard.
Is it at also at 6500 rpm, which would be the same top rpm as in any other gear, or is it lower?
Same question as the other thread for 8000 rpm, is it possible to get rid of this 127 mph governor?
Is it easy? Is it expensive?
Thanks for your answers guys. And sorry if my English is not perfect.

Stock power isnt going to get you much faster. Raising redline to 8000 is just a plain bad idea without destroking the engine... it wont last long at all that way. Search around, this has been covered a LOT of times.

this is a tc were talking bout here not a high revving little honda, and the only reason you need to take the govner off is if you were running alot of hp like ~400hp and thats only if it was strictly track

Who needs to go more than 127mph?? Should have bought a Vette.

I've never driven at 127 with this car, my max is 100. I'm not crazy, I need my license.
It's just the feeling of using the engine at the speed it is able to reach instead of having an electronic system telling you which speed you may drive. I don't really see the point of that top speed governor.
On a track though ... Still need a long straight line, I know.
With the s/c it may be easier to reach that speed.
A corvette is not exactly the same budget, has only two seats and is a RWD, not easy to drive on the snow.

Well first off its electronically controlled via the ECM so you have to get rid of that (the entire ecu) to go over 127.
So you are saying you are not crazy and wouldn't even go 127, then why are you asking this question. The tC is what it is.... people need to stop trying to make it faster, especially with a top speed of 127. 127 on public roads is insane and is asking for your license to be taken away and be put in jail.

The point is that the car is already running at its safe limits, hence the governer. Cars require more and more downforce the faster you go to remain safe, this is not a sports car, and for various reasons the designers figured the safe limit for the design at 127. And again, it is not a matter of letting the engine do what it can, 127 is probably approaching what it can do max already. Aerodynamic drag increases with the square of velocity and is THE largest impedence to going any faster. Look at a Vette for example. It is only a couple of hundred pounds heavier than us and has MUCH better aerodynamic design. Its top speed is 198. Lets say for the sake of things that you could do 130 in the tC. That means it takes the vette (500 hp) 3.125 times more power to run 1.5 times faster, even with its other advantages.

Sorry guys, different culture.
I'm French. Almost no car in Europe has this type of governor and I've always been able to try at least once with each car I had what the top speed was.
And you'd be surprised what kind of speed you can reach even with a 1.2L engine!!!
With the type of car below, 60 hp, and ok, I admit it, a nice long down going road, you actually can reach about 127.
All the good aerodynamics lessons cannot explain that.
But I know there is some truth in what you said, engifineer, I'm not saying you are wrong.
However with my TRD suspension, and a lower center of gravity, I'm confident it would drive at 127 very safe.
But not on most highways, at least here in MA: too many cops and too many road hazards/holes/bumps ...
On a European highway, it'd be safe and my aerodynamics would do great.
But thanks to buderic, I also have my answer. Change the ECU is the way. I'll see what my top speed is on a track, there is most probably not so many tracks where I will even have enough length to reach that speed anyway.
Thank you guys.

Speedos can be off by a tad, so 2% probably isnt terrible. Parallax errors are also a factor when looking at a gauge needle.

The point is that I'm going to use my car on the track.
The one I'm gonna do in May, undeSiReD_eFx, may not have a straight line long enough to reach that speed.
But I may try other tracks with longer straights, and I find it really ridiculous, to drive for 10 seconds at 127 on a straight line on a track where time matters, just because of this f u c king governor.

You got some big tracks then because it is going to take a decent amount of time to propel the tC to 127.

I guess u r right. I have no idea about that. What about the Supercharged tC? May not change so much at the end of rpm, right?

I can't remember who, but we just recently told someone new that there was no such thing as a chip for the tC didn't we?

I have a question, I post it.
I got some answers.
But your post was just saying my thread was boring.
I may find some of your threads interesting, some boring.
I will try to help when I'm interested and when I have something to bring, I will just pass the ones I find boring.
Everybody has different interests, some look for styling, some for performance.
Just respect my thread, because I will respect yours.
And respect has nothing to do with how long you've been a member for, gattzzz.
